Funded Projects

In January 2013 departments of the school put forward their bids for items and projects that they would like to be funded through monies raised by the King Alfred's Parent Association.

The Committee was able to fund all the requests which came to the collective value of £3490 as shown here.

  1. £40 - Belly Dancing Hip Scarves. Zumba Elective: A student teacher has started an elective that we would hope to continue next year. The elective explores a range of ethnic dancing styles.
  2. £600 - Inspirational Learning Space. To trial a new type of classroon with interactive walls, three dimensional objects, learning walls, sculptures etc.
  3. £1000 - Two Electric Pianos. Currently need to move pianos between the sites for performances.
  4. £600 - Music Stands. To give the big band Glenn Miller appeal. To promote KAs and KAPA when performing to the public
  5. £400 - Two Heavy Duty Food Mixers. To help speed up preparation for electives and practical lessons. Enable the production of doughs.
  6. £150 - Prayer Space. Permanent conversion of part of English Office as a prayer/quiet space.
  7. £300 - Guitar making Elective. Funding for maple, walnut, fret wire for ukulele, dulcimer and kalimba manufacture.
  8. £200 - Healthy Body and Mind Elective. Elective designed to boost student confidence. Funding will help pay expenses and buy materials that will be used by outside speakers, beauticians etc.
  9. £200 - Craft Cafe Elective. A new elective that explores decopatching whilst speaking conversational French.
